Do you end up meeting yourself coming back?
Do you struggle through your days, with half an eye on the clock and half an eye on your to-do list?
Do you rush from pillar to post, always worrying that you’re missing something and you’re going to be late?
The roots of this chaos may lie deep in your past!
My mother was always early for everything. She always left plenty of time on journeys for the unexpected. We’d tease her that she had to leave early in case the train got a puncture!
And as a reaction to this, I was tardy.
I would leave everything to the last minute, then I’d have to scramble to be on time, upset and disappoint other people, and spend my time apologising and trying to catch up.
How daft was that?!
I was wasting huge amounts of energy getting flustered, when all it took was a little forward planning and working out timings properly to make everything run swimmingly.
Affecting others
And as for upsetting and disappointing others involved - that was unforgivable!
If I wanted to waste my own time, that was my choice. But when others had taken the trouble to alter their schedules to accommodate me, being late was pure selfishness.
So I made a big change.
I started to plan properly. Schedule things so that they all slotted together neatly. A kind of Lego Calendar.
And I found that life became much more enjoyable!
Once my wanderings came under control, I was able to utilise my time (and everyone else’s) so much better.
The stress was removed from my day. Everything had a place, and would fall satisfyingly into it.
Timeliness
If you’ve had a call with me, or watched any of my Live Trainings at Creativity Central you’ll know that you can set your watch by me!
I am truly a reformed character.
And all the “meeting myself coming back” and “chasing my tail” trying to catch up is … GONE!
So if you’re where I was, never able to fit everything into your day, always worrying about what you’re missing out on, how do you think you can turn things round so that all that stress melts away and you glide swan-like through your day, smiling Mona-Lisa-like at all around you?
