More choices - and more decisions to make!

Following on from last week’s post (which do read now if you missed it!), I can hear you muttering … “But I make a million decisions a day, how can they all be important?”

Great question!

Let’s look at this more closely.

Every day, all day, from the moment you open your eyes in the morning, you are making decisions.

“Will I get up now?”

“Will I do my exercise?”

“What will I have for breakfast?”

And so on.

Not important, you may think, yes?

BUT.

To decide, means “to cut off”. It’s from the Latin.

De- is from

And -cide is the same as in homicide, or genocide, or even scissors - cutting off, killing.

So when you decide to get out of bed, you are deciding NOT to stay in bed.

When you decide to exercise, you are deciding to take a positive approach to your health and your day.

When you decide what to have for breakfast, you are cutting off the possibility of NOT having breakfast.

Do you get it?

You may think that by deciding to get out of bed, you haven’t made any difference to your day. But you DECIDED NOT to stay in bed. The one must exclude the other!

So even if your decision is only about whether to have tea or coffee, wear your red or your blue jumper, you are choosing one path and excluding another.

Do you begin to see how this constant deciding can shape not just your day, but your whole future?

Choices

Many of us know - to our cost! - what the effect of just one more doughnut can be after twenty years! Your body isn’t looking at what you didn’t eat. Only what you CHOSE to eat.

Your body won’t say, “Ah yes, but I know you were lonely,” or bored, or busy, or whatever. Your body just accommodates the extra pounds you’ve sent its way!

So think how the little choices you make on a daily basis - tea or coffee, walk or drive, read or watch tv, write your first chapter or keep dreaming about it, start your work or put it off for another day …

Can you see how they ALL add up!

The thing is, it’s those little decisions, deciding the wrong way, the choices we make every day - which we think are of small or NO importance - that are going to come back and bite us!

Or, if you make the right choices, those decisions can lead you into your perfect future!

•   Where what you want to achieve

Becomes do-able.

•   Where fulfilling your huge potential

Becomes a possibility.

•   Where realising your gifts and using themBecomes your reality.

So does planning your future look a bit easier now?

Instead of making a mammoth change, huge upheaval, radical change of direction …

Just pay attention to the little choices you make, day in, day out.

❤️ Those little inconsequential things that nobody else will notice or know about.

❤️ Those things that reinforce in you your desire to move forward, to a fulfilling life.

(This is why I love working as a Transition Coach - just giving people the impetus they need to get going!)

Every day you can start to shape a better future - just by making better decisions NOW!

Now how about having a think, and looking at the last little decision you made, and consider your next one!
