So how do you find these lovely clients?

Part 2 from How to find the right sort of clients for your business …

In my last post I was telling you how I turned things around and started attracting the right sort of clients to my dog training school by putting myself in their shoes and offering them what they thought they were looking for.

Here’s how:

1. Keep repeating the message

Your goal is to serve the people who are ready and LOOKING for you!

They often watch quietly from the sidelines.

They’re not the ones who are always liking and sharing posts, and writing long comments. They are often lurkers watching to get their opinion of you confirmed before taking the leap.

People who are vociferous about their problems often want the world to know how they’re suffering, and want to keep those problems as it gives them status!

Go figure ….

They’re not for you!

And of course you need to have a way these ideal clients can contact you privately - not publicly on social, they wouldn’t appreciate that! Your ideal client may be a private person, an introvert even - perhaps just like you! And they don’t want to admit to their training failures publicly. (Nor would you, most probably!)

2. People invest money for different reasons

Usually it’s to save time and money in the long term. These are the people who will value what you do.

You don’t want bargain-shoppers! You need to come over as a top-end option, not Walmart!

This is what I help you with in my programs - helping you get the right client for the right price. Keeping your prices low is a sure way to attract bargain-hunters who buy only on price. They’ll never see the value of what you personally offer, and how you are different from everyone else. And if they complain that “so-and-so is cheaper”, wish them speedily on their way!

And the third point you need to get is this:

3. Trust

Your clients need to trust you. They need to know they’re in safe hands with you; that you are reliable; you show up; you are credible (not making wild claims that they will live happily ever after - after just one session with you!); that you care; and that you don’t put yourself first.

You can’t force trust.

Trust is something that grows as you show that you are trustworthy.

Yes - building this trust can take time. It’s not instant, but it is long-lasting!

Other dog trainer coaches make big claims, but I’ve been around for nearly 15 years, and teaching online through my books and programs for 8 of them. You know you can depend on me to show up!

So how do I do this?

How do I ensure I get the right clients?
