Goals? or Resolutions?

Goals or Resolutions.png

We’ve had a trial of a year! And you may be forgiven for thinking that you are helpless.

But you are NOT.

There’s only one person running your life, and that’s you!

So, as it’s the beginning of a new and hopefully more enjoyable year,

I want to think about ..

Goals vs resolutions

What’s the difference?

◦  A goal is something you definitely want

◦  A resolution is something you think might be nice

The trick is to make it a SMART goal. So it has a definite, measurable outcome, and a time in which you want to achieve that outcome. Otherwise it’s just wishful thinking!

So, not “I want to lose weight” which is nebulous and unquantifiable. But, “I will lose x pounds by x date” which is a target you can aim at!

But the most important thing about goals is not what you achieve through reaching them,

BUT

Who you have to become to achieve this goal?

It’s not the goal, the WHAT - it’s the WHO!

And it’s certainly not the HOW, as the HOW will appear once you’ve decided on the WHO.

HOWs happen when you know what you’re aiming at.

You set a goal to find out what you DON’T believe about yourself. What you don’t believe you can really achieve.

You don’t set a goal to eat dinner today! You know you will, you CAN, and you’re easily able to.

You set a goal to stretch yourself a bit.

Because that misbelief - that you CAN’T reach it - is operating in the background. And you’re living your whole life by that belief WITHOUT KNOWING IT!

Think of what you would REALLY like to have in your life, however impossible and unbelievable, set that goal … and GO FOR IT!

How does this sound to you? Put a YES in the comments if you can see the sense in this!
