Still being held up?
Further to last week’s discussion on lack of system and lack of confidence, which may be holding you back from making your dream a reality, I want you to look at some more things that may trip you up!
Here’s a thing which people allow to get in their way: Time and Money - or a perceived lack of both. They kind of go together. Why? Because Time is what you use when you don’t have Money!.
You know the old saw, “If you want something done, ask a busy person”? that’s because they’re already in motion.
They’re already doing.
They can incorporate the next bit of doing easily and keep rolling!
And as for money - think of all the people who pulled themselves up by their bootstraps from humble or dreadful beginnings. They decided what they wanted and they went for it.
Nothing was going to stop them!
“I don’t know enough”
I come across plenty of people who are ready and able to help others but they think they have to carry on studying for another aeon before they can launch themselves.
Fact is - you only need to know MORE than the person you’re teaching. You don’t need to know EVERYTHING. And anyway, no-one does know everything.
Can you teach a child to tie his shoe-laces? There you go. You didn’t need a diploma in nautical knot-making! You just needed to know how to tie your own laces.
So, is that you? Have you been holding off starting to help people while you collect qualifications?
Hmmm …
“I don’t have enough experience”
I’ll be going into this more deeply another time, but really - how do you get experience? By DOING!
Get out there and start doing! You’ll learn more in the doing in one month than you learnt in years of study.
Really!
So what is it that’s holding me back?
But what it all comes down to in the cold light of day is FEAR.
Fear of others’ opinions
Fear of failure
Fear of commitment
Are you afraid of what others may say?
Ask yourself this…
Do they pay your rent?
Do they run a business?
No?
Then it’s not important what they think! Only accept criticism from people who KNOW what they’re talking about!
As to being afraid of failing - well, that’s definitely a whole ’nother training session!
Suffice it to say, for now that the only person who fails is the one who gives up.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it! If you try, you’ll get something. If you never try, then - guaranteed - you’ll fail.
And as for fear of commitment …
This shows a lack of confidence, and that you’re worried about all the other things we talked about.
I can tell you for a fact that once you have someone guiding you, holding your hand, showing you the way, EVERYTHING else falls into place. And once you get started and look at the people you’ve helped with your product, your service, your guidance, you’ll know you’ve arrived!
I love to see people realising that the threads holding them back are so easy to break through. The rewards of doing something you feel you were born to do cannot be measured by mere money - and yet, that first step can feel so hard.
The key is to feel brave enough to ask for help!
Nobody can help you till you ask them, and make yourself ready to be coached.
I help people build a business from their passion, and I have a special program to help dog trainers turning their dog schools into successful, income-earning, entities.
Here’s what one student has to say:
This course has been amazing. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge and expertise with us! I feel like I have learnt a ton from you.”
