“I don’t know what else I can do”
You aren’t stuck! You need to know - and recognise! - that you have choices in life and it’s up to you to take them, so that you can do whatever you want to do, and map out your future with courage and faith.
What habits are getting in your way?
We all have habits.
Most of what we do every day is habit-driven. It makes sense! If you had to stop and make decisions about everything all day long you’d be exhausted by lunchtime!
Where’s the best place for learning? School? Or … here and now!
I am eternally curious. Think of the 4 year old child who drives everyone mad with endless WHYs. whywhywhy, but Mummy WHY? And somehow I never grew out of that! Whywhywhy is a constant cry of mine.
How to make better decisions, faster!
So after last week’s look at decision-making, let’s look at how to make better decisions!
They do say that we make from 40 to 60 THOUSAND decisions a day! From the moment we open our eyes in the morning we are making decisions.
What’s the hold-up?
Nothing ever stands still and - as the saying goes nature abhors a vacuum. So if a gap in the market appears the canny folk have been quick to jump in.
Like all the companies who made hay when the pandemic hit, like online conferencing and the like - an essential and much-needed service!
Did you know that everything you need is already there?
We believe we are limited by the world around us.
We believe that we have been short-changed!
Everyone else seems to have what they need - and we don’t! And you know what? If that’s what you believe, that’s just how you’ll stay.
Who do you aspire to be?
Have you got role models?
By that I mean people whose success and achievements you admire and want to mimic?
This is great! BUT the key is that you’re following the RIGHT people for the RIGHT reasons!
Practice makes perfect - are you sure?
Practice makes Perfect
BUT in fact that’s a nonsense!
If you’re practising the wrong thing, it will be “Practice makes Imperfect”.
If you’re practising badly, it’ll be “Practice makes Worse”.
It’s all to do with what you’re actually DOING, rather than how much you do it!
New doors are always opening!
Doors are clanging and clattering open all the time.
But so often we miss them, because we’re not expecting them, or we’re looking at the wrong door!
Don't make New Year's Resolutions
Whyever not? BECAUSE!
Because they don’t work. Because they’re just wishes, not based in any reality. They’re an empty hope, waiting for the Wish Fairy to wave her magic wand.
Life is a perfect adventure!
I’d like you to look at life a little differently.
Life is not a game to be won or lost!
It just is.
All you have to do is live it.
Life is truly a marvel, and you will miss out on so much if you spend your time trying to control what happens.
Stop asking for permission!
We are reared as nice, polite, little girls and boys.
We are taught to ASK before doing things.
“Don’t just dive in!” we’re told. “Ask nicely and wait your turn …”
And that’s all good and well for bringing children up to be well-mannered, and not grabby hooligans!
How much am I really worth?
This is another of those WRONG questions! Of course you have worth, and that worth will vary for whoever you’re dealing with.
Ask a better question and you’ll get a better answer!
The important thing is to remember your own value as an individual
Can you wait?
Can you wait? Can you wait indefinitely? Can you keep on waiting …?
So - what are you waiting for?
Are you waiting for things to suddenly turn around and trundle forward just as you want them to?
Doing what you love, all day long
Isn’t that what we all yearn for? To be able to do what we love, all day long?
I guess it’s the reason so many people look forward to retirement - so they can leave the hateful or boring day job and enjoy endless gardening, or travelling, or reading, or …
What if it doesn’t work? and other unhelpful questions
Asking questions is an art! Ask the wrong question and you are guaranteed to get the wrong answer?
To get the answer you want, you must ask better questions! But what question should you ask?
